Ramesh + Mansana’s Shenandoah National Park Surprise Proposal

  1. Lindsay says:

Skyline Drive made for the perfect proposal location for this beautiful couple!! It is like a photographer’s dream up there!!

    • Kara Ardron says:

Oh definitely! Whenever I can bring couples up to the park I do. I love showing people around my favorite hikes and vistas!

  2. Corey says:

Shenandoah National Park has amazing views so I can see why it’s worth braving the windy cold weather! This is such a beautiful engagement session!

    • Kara Ardron says:

Thank you! Yes the Blue Ridge Mountains are gorgeous and well worth braving the chilly weather to have as a backdrop!

  3. Ela says:

AH! Oh my gosh the light and clouds at Shenandoah National Park is AMAZING!!! What an incredible adventure for a proposal and engagement. I love this!

    • Kara Ardron says:

Thank you! I love showing people around Shenandoah National Park — one of my favorite spots on the east coast!

  4. Michelle says:

This adventure proposal and engagement session on the top of the mountains is EPIC! Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park is such an amazing location-definitely worth braving the chilly weather! Absolutely beautiful photos!

    • Kara Ardron says:

Thank you! Shenandoah National Park is always worth braving the chilly weather for in my book. Unfortunately Skyline Drive sometimes closes due to snow and ice so I’ve never seen it bathed in snow, but even on chilly, but clear days it’s worth a visit!

  5. Kelly Anderson says:

OMG!!! 😲 Amazing! I love everything from the colours in the sky to the beautiful moments you have captured brilliantly!

  6. Sarah Holladay says:

THIS SESSION IS STUNNING!!! I’ve never been to Shenandoah National Park or Skyline Drive but it looks like such an amazing adventure. Is this really inVirginia?! Their engagement story is so special and the fact her surprised her with a mountain top proposal and had you there to document it is just extra special. Congratulations to the new couple and bravo on such gorgeous images!!

    • Kara Ardron says:

Thank you! Yes! This is one of my favorite spots in Virginia. I love that you can see the mountains as you drive along skyline drive. Although this was a hiking engagement session, there are vista points that are beautiful to shoot from just the parking lot!

  7. Emily says:

Shenadoah National Park is absolutely gorgeous. I drive through there all of the time on my way to and from Virginia.

    • Kara Ardron says:

Shenandoah National Park is one of the jewels of Virginia in my opinion. And, since the Blue Ridge Mountains are my home stomping grounds, my favorite of the jewels. I love seeing how things change from day to day even at the same view!

  8. Kusum says:

Shenandoah National Park especially the Skyline Drive is one of my favorites on the east coast! Such a beautiful couple and a surprise proposal.

    • Kara Ardron says:

Oh my gosh me too. It’s one of those things I almost don’t want to tell people about Skyline Drive because I love it so much and, selfishly, I want to keep it to myself!

  9. Simone says:

What a gorgeous adventure engagement! Such a pretty pink sunset. Lucky them!

    • Kara Ardron says:

So funny thing – I had actually told Ramesh that we probably wouldn’t have a view of the mountains because the day before it was totally foggy. BUT THEN the skies cleared and we got such a spectacular sunrise as the backdrop for this sweet proposal.

  10. The sky and colors are outta control on this adventure engagement! Shenandoah looks amazing.

    • Kara Ardron says:

We got SUCH an amazing sunrise for this engagement session. I lovvve taking clients up on the mountain early in the morning because not only do you get the view to yourself, but something I think the show the mountain gives off is just a little bit more magical than sunset.

  11. Abbi Hearne says:

Whaaaaat this is so beautiful! I can’t believe those colors! This totally makes me want to add Shenandoah National Park to my list!

    • Kara Ardron says:

You should! I know you guys are all about the desert, but Shenandoah National Park is an east coast wonder =).

  12. matt says:

I really love windy sessions. They are some of my favorite photos. I have never been to Shenandoah but this makes me really want to go there.

    • Kara Ardron says:

I totally agree. I love how the wind grabs hair and adds just an extra element of drama. In this case, the wind was bitterly cold so we had to cut their mountaintop engagement photos a little short, but I think it was worth it =).

  13. traci says:

That dress with that sunset is stunning! Beautiful capture of this proposal on the Shenandoah mountains.

    • Kara Ardron says:

Yes! The Blue Ridge Mountains are a stunning backdrop for a proposal! I love being able to show people around Skyline Drive and take them to my favorite spots — this hike is one of my favorites =).

  14. Sarah Meza says:

Oh my gosh that’s so crazy that other couple showed up! Wow, Shenandoah National Park is so gorgeous! I love that he went for such an adventurous engagement!

  15. Sydney says:

Wow!! Shenandoah National Park is seriously so gorgeous! I love that he wanted to do such an adventurous proposal!

  16. Justyna E Butler says:

Wow! Cotton candy skies for days! Love this engagement!

  17. Wow! I didn’t know there were such beautiful places in Virginia to have an adventure engagement!! Love the vibrancy!

  18. Hannah says:

Where did you find that field with the mountains peeking up in the background? Hoping to find something like that in shenandoah!

    • Kara Ardron says:

Hey Hannah! This is one of the overlooks off of Skyline Drive. There are several meadows with mountains in the background you can find as you drive along. Good luck!
