Maymont is one of the most beautiful places for Richmond engagement photos. The 100-acre estate and park is full of gardens, incredible greenery and wide paths. Additionally, unlike places like the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, you don’t need a permit for engagement photos here, which is incredible.
For Saima and Brady’s Maymont engagement session, we started in the Italian Garden before heading down to the Japanese Garden for a different vibe.
One of the things I love about working here is that there is so much diversity between the different spaces. Whether you are looking for a romantic garden vibe or a castle vibe or an old estate vibe, you can find it here.
Pro tip: If you want to utilize golden hour for your engagement session, the best time of year for Maymont engagement photos is either April-early May or late September-October. That’s because the estate closes at 7pm and sunset at those times of year is right around 6-6:30pm!
