If you want to get married in Shenandoah National Park, but have too many guests for an overlook elopement, then Skyland Resort is the perfect spot for your wedding!
Skyland Resort can host up to 100 for a wedding and is pet-friendly for outdoor wedding ceremonies.
Getting married in Shenandoah has a lot of perks: for one, it’s one of the most affordable places to still access epic mountain views. For two, it’s all inclusive — besides a photographer, officiant and florist, you don’t have to worry about locating other vendors. Skyland resort will cater your wedding and you can book all rentals through them as well.
Most people either choose to get married on the lawn behind Skyland or on the patio directly behind the building. Of the two (I’ve photographed both), the lawn hosts better views. You can then either do group photos right at the ceremony spot or hop in the car and head down the road to an overlook. Timber Hollow Overlook is only five minutes away and is west-facing so it is perfect for sunset photos. Just keep in mind, this is a popular sunset spot so there may be other visitors there.
The historic conference hall at Skyland is rustic and somewhat reminiscent of an old summer camp mess hall. If you are planning a Skyland Resort wedding, just keep in mind this is not going to be high end luxury. It’s simple, affordable, rustic and has epic mountain views available.
If this is your vibe, get in touch! I’m a Shenandoah National Park wedding photographer and I will help you find all the best spots for your incredible day!
