Erika and Kyle’s love story is one of serendipity, second chances, and shared adventures. They first met at a fraternity party at James Madison University, where their connection sparked over a mutual love (or perhaps struggle) with accounting. After life took them in different directions, their romance rekindled, leading to a heartfelt “I love you” moment on New Year’s Eve. With a love for travel, the outdoors, and their beloved dogs, it was only fitting that they chose an adventure elopement in the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina.

Erika and Kyle’s elopement began at a super cute luxury A-frame Airbnb in Vilas, NC. Erika did her own hair and makeup in the wee hours of the morning while Kyle got their beloved pups ready.
The Adventure Officiant met us at the trailhead for Beacon Heights Overlook and we all set off on the half-mile ascent. As the sky began to lighten, Erika and Kyle reached the summit and got ready separately.
With the first golden rays of sunrise spilling over the mountains, they shared an emotional first look. Fog hung in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The morning mist beat off the worst of the early September humidity. With only the mountains and their loyal dogs as witnesses, they exchanged heartfelt vows. One of their beloved dogs served as “ring bearer.” The moment was pure—filled with raw emotion, quiet laughter, and the kind of intimacy that makes adventure elopements unforgettable.
After their ceremony and some portraits at the summit, we headed back to the cars so we could explore a few overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We hopped on and off at several spots before ending at a location where you can see the iconic Linn Cove Viaduct in the background.
Following the morning’s festivities, Erika and Kyle dropped their dogs back off at their airbnb for a well earned pup-nap. We then headed down to Price’s Lake near Boone, NC for a water-based adventure. Now wearing black and white bathing suits, they rented paddleboards (and a canoe for me) and we set off on the lake.
The amazing thing about adventure elopements is you can make the day truly your own. When it’s just the two of you, you can literally do whatever you want! For Erika and Kyle, that included putting on a bathing suit and hitting the water ;).
To end their unforgettable day, Erika and Kyle returned to their Airbnb for a private chef experience prepared by Ross Aglialoro (High Country Food Hub, Instagram). They made fresh pasta together, sharing laughter and stories over delicious homemade food. As the evening set in, they cozied up on the couch, enjoying the company of their dogs and a slice of a tasty locally made cake.
Erika and Kyle’s elopement was a perfect reflection of their relationship—filled with adventure, authenticity, and the little moments that make love so special. From the sunrise ceremony to paddleboarding on the lake and a cozy evening with their dogs, every part of the day was uniquely theirs.
Western North Carolina provided the perfect backdrop for their story, a place where their love could truly shine in its most natural and beautiful form.
If you’re dreaming of an adventurous, intimate elopement that’s completely tailored to your love story, let’s create something magical together. Reach out to start planning your own unforgettable day!
