One of the most unique and visually stunning places for an engagement session in Charlottesville is The Wool Factory. It features industrial charm and beautiful brickwork as well as a nearby walking bridge. It was the perfect setting for Amanda and Tierney’s morning engagement photos. Their love story, rooted in friendship and adventure, made this session even more special.

The Wool Factory provides a perfect mix of modern and industrial elements, offering a one-of-a-kind setting for couples who love character and texture in their engagement photos. The quiet morning light, the brick walls, and the thoughtful design make it an incredible location for capturing authentic love stories.
We met up early in the morning to take advantage of the soft light and have the outdoor space to ourselves. With Amanda’s love for candids and Tierney’s desire for natural, unposed images, we focused on capturing their laughter, connection, and quiet in-between moments.
It’s a lot easier to let go and be present with one another when you don’t have an audience. So if you are feeling nervous about your engagement photos, let’s talk about when the best times are to avoid crowds.
After spending time at The Wool Factory, we headed downtown to explore some of Charlottesville’s charming streets. Just when we thought the morning couldn’t get any more magical, a rainbow appeared! It was a perfect, serendipitous moment that felt like a little nod to Amanda and Tierney’s love story. Of course, we had to stop and capture the joy of that unexpected gift from the sky.
To wrap up their session, we stopped at Grit Coffee on the Downtown Mall. Coffee shop engagement photos always add such a warm, personal touch to a session. However, when shooting in a café or any indoor public space, there are a few things to keep in mind:
Amanda and Tierney’s relationship began in law school at Washington University in St. Louis. Though they were in different sections, they crossed paths through their school’s LGBT affinity group, OUTLaw. It wasn’t until a spring break trip to Hilton Head that their friendship deepened. A cozy moment on the couch watching The Lord of the Rings sparked something more, though neither of them knew it at the time.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Amanda and Tierney became part of the same quarantine bubble, spending time together on sunrise hikes, sipping oat milk lattes, and taking road trips. Their friendship grew into something even deeper, culminating in an unforgettable road trip to Colorado, where Amanda first realized she was falling in love.
A week after returning from Colorado, Amanda finally voiced her feelings. After talking through what that meant for their friendship, one kiss changed everything. They’ve been inseparable ever since.
Amanda and Tierney’s engagement session was a true reflection of who they are—adventurous, deeply connected, and full of joy. From the quiet moments at The Wool Factory to chasing rainbows and sipping coffee, every moment felt organic and real. Their love story is proof that the best relationships are built on deep friendship, shared experiences, and plenty of laughter.
If you’re considering Wool Factory engagement photos, an early morning session might just be the perfect way to have the space to yourself while capturing stunning, intimate moments. And if you find yourself downtown afterward, keep your eyes open—you never know when a rainbow might appear.
