This location is ideal for couples who want engagement photos that feel relaxed, natural, and grounded in the outdoors. For more Roanoke engagement session locations check out this resource.
Carvins Cove is a public space, and like any public location, there may be other visitors around. I approach every session with intention and awareness, especially when photographing LGBTQ+ couples.
I guide posing and location choices in a way that prioritizes comfort and safety while still creating images that feel open, affectionate, and real. Your engagement photos should reflect who you are, not feel limited by your surroundings.
Timing matters at Carvins Cove more than many other locations.
The park is open seven days a week except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
From April 1 through September 30 the hours are 6:30 AM to 9:30 PM
But from October 1 through March 31 the hours are 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM
Important things to know:
I always plan sessions here with sunset timing front of mind and build in buffer time so there is no rushing at the end.
Carvins Cove photographs well year-round, but each season offers something different.
I help couples choose the best trail and backdrop based on season and light.
