Wolf Rock Trail
For Aylish and Dave’s engagement session, we chose Wolf Rock Trail. It’s 2.5 miles round trip and moderate in difficulty. The summit opens into a massive granite space, about the size of two football fields, with stunning mountain views. You’ll have plenty of room to explore, pose, and capture private moments—even on busy weekends.

The more popular Stone Mountain Trail also offers incredible views and photography opportunities. But for couples looking for privacy, Wolf Rock or other less-traveled trails are ideal.

Planning Your Stone Mountain Engagement Session

• Photo Permit Required: All NC State Parks require a photo permit. At Stone Mountain, permits cost $45 and must be submitted 15 days before your session. Apply here.
• Park Hours: November–February closes at 6 PM, March–April at 8 PM, May–August at 9 PM, and September–October at 8 PM. Sunrise sessions are mostly limited to winter months, but sunset sessions are ideal almost year-round.
• Privacy Tips: The summits are vast, so even if other visitors are around, you can easily find a private spot.

Pro Tip: Start your session early or plan a weekday visit to avoid crowds and capture soft morning or evening light.
