The Best Roanoke, VA Wedding Venues

If you are looking for a wedding venue near Roanoke, Virginia, then you are in the right place! Read on to discover my favorite wedding venues within an hour of Roanoke. I’ve grouped them by city or town and outlined general facts about each, like aesthetic and guest capacity. 

My best piece of advice to couples when choosing a venue: First put together your guestlist. The number of guests is the single most important factor in your budget. It may seem obvious, but it is shocking how much more expensive it can be to host a 100-person wedding than a 50-person wedding or a 200-person wedding than a 100-person wedding. 

Once you have your guest list generally outlined, you can start to hone in on your budget and aesthetic.

Tips for Making Your Roanoke, VA, Wedding Venue More Affordable

Many wedding venues are priced differently for peak versus off-season weddings. Additionally, it can be quite a bit more affordable to book a weekday rather than a weekend. 

Take The Seclusion, for example. This is one of the most beautiful, luxury wedding venues in Virginia. If you book The Seclusion for a Saturday on a holiday weekend, the venue costs $20,000, according to their 2022-2023 pricing. But if you book The Seclusion for a Friday or Sunday in the winter, which they define as November-March, the cost is $12,225. Basically, you save almost $8,000 just by simply choosing a different time of year and a non-peak day. 

If you hold your guestlist down to 30 people or fewer (their definition of a micro wedding) and hold it on a Monday-Wednesday, the cost drops further to $7,500. 

This is all to say, if you fall in love with a venue but their peak-season pricing is out of reach, consider shifting the day or time of year and you might have huge savings!

Roanoke Wedding Venues

Bent Oaks 

Bent Oaks Manor is a historic estate nestled in the heart of downtown Roanoke. It’s not a huge property – just a quarter of an acre. But the manor can accommodate up to 13 overnight guests and up to 100 wedding guests. Ceremonies typically take place on the front lawn and receptions are either tented or in their 600 sq ft ballroom.

Charter Hall

Charter Hall is located on the third floor of the historic City Market Building in Roanoke. It’s a great pick for an indoor, winter wedding or for a couple who wants to do everything inside. The large ballroom can accommodate up to 240 guests. 

The Penthouse

Right across the street from the City Market Building is Center in the Square. At the top of that building is The Penthouse – an open deck with 360-degree views of Roanoke and the Blue Ridge Mountains. They advertise being able to accommodate up to 500 guests for cocktail parties and 120 for seated dinners in their glass room. This is probably one of the most unique venues in Roanoke and if I were planning an urban wedding, this would probably be my pick. 

Taubman Museum of Art

If the Penthouse was booked or I was planning a really big wedding, then my second choice would be the Taubman Museum of Art. This venue features iconic architecture – particularly the Roanoke Atrium. Even in the winter, a glass ceiling pours light into the space for an artistic and elegant feel. If you have a massive guest count (as in the branch of my family that throws southeast Asian weddings), Taubman has one of the biggest guest capacities in the region with a reception capacity of 850. 

Sunnybrook

Located in northwestern Roanoke, Sunnybrook is a good fit for couples wanting an upscale garden feel for their wedding. This venue boasts inhouse catering and event planning. Couples typically have their wedding in the boxwood garden or on the covered veranda. If you are looking for a venue that can do it all for you, this is definitely one you should consider. 

Corinthian Ballroom

The Corinthian Ballroom is also located in the heart of downtown Roanoke. It features massive windows, vaulted ceilings and huge colonnades. It’s a good fit for couples who need a lot of space and like a historic feel. Planning a Bridgerton-themed wedding? Or simply looking for ballroom elegance? This is where you want to be.  

Rendezvous Events

Rendezvous Events is a newer event space associated with the store The French Farmhouse in downtown Roanoke. It’s a smaller space, with a max guest capacity of 60 people. But if you’re looking for an urban space for your micro wedding, this is probably your best bet. The galley space is brick-lined and features massive windows at one end. 

The Maridor

This beautiful, historic home in Roanoke city can accommodate up to 150 guests. Typically couples get ready in the home, have their ceremony in the garden, and then host their reception in the ballroom. One of the perks of this venue is that they have a decor collection offered at  very affordable rates to couples who book with them. 

Hotel Roanoke 

Looking for luxury and elegance? Consider the Hotel Roanoke. It is so venerable at age 140 and alluring with its Tudor architecture, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The hotel offers six separate venue spaces, ranging from ballroom to courtyard to speakeasy. Most people who book Hotel Roanoke are looking for a black-tie, all-inclusive experience. 

Clifton Forge Wedding Venue

The Farm at Glen Haven

This is one of the most unique barn-wedding venues in the region. It has a somewhat urban-factory vibe with its tin ceiling and metal railings around the upper loft. It almost feels more like a brewery than a barn, which makes sense since they are developing a hop yard to brew beer with in the future. 

The barn can accommodate 200 people for a reception, while the pavilion can accommodate even more. Couples typically get ready in the historic home on site at the Oakdale Manor. 

Boones Mill Wedding Venue

Sundara

Sundara offers some of the best mountain views of any venue on this list. It’s about 20 miles south of Roanoke. They call it a “garden estate” and that’s truly what it is. Get married under the trees with the mountains in the background and then dance the night away in a tented reception. Sundara does not host winter weddings, closing December-March.

Bent Mountain Wedding Venue 

AmRhein Wine

AmRhein Winery is a smaller vineyard located about 40 minutes southeast of Roanoke. Owned by a friendly local couple with adult children, it’s a perfect fit for couples planning a micro wedding who want to lean into that vineyard vibe, with Rhine-type wines. The reception space is covered in vines and ceremonies typically happen in front of a small gazebo.

Silver Hearth Lodge

Silver Hearth Lodge is 30 minutes south of downtown Roanoke. It’s located at the top of Bent Mountain on 40 acres on what they call their “wedding campus,” with six separate spaces for weddings. They can accommodate up to 300 people for a wedding reception. This place has rave reviews on every platform with people particularly gushing about the views, amenities and how accommodating the owner is. 

Wirtz Wedding Venue

Belle Garden Estate

Belle Garden Estate is located about 25 minutes southeast of downtown Roanoke. It’s a historic venue that features mountain views, gardens and a large reception pavilion for up to 200 guests. On-site accommodation is available for up to 10 people. Owner Isabelle Russell is also the owner of the wedding planning service Garden Rose Events and Design. 

Bedford Wedding Venues

Spring Rose Lane Farm

Spring Rose Lane Farm is one of the newest venues on this list. It’s located about 45 minutes east of Roanoke in Bedford. The venue features a bright red barn, open fields and forested ceremony backdrop. This is a good fit for couples who want a true farm wedding (it’s also a working cattle farm) within an hour of Roanoke. 

Sierra Vista

Sierra Vista might have the most incredible mountain views of any venue on this list. And that’s saying something. Located 50 minutes east of Roanoke, they boast a 30-mile long unobstructed view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. That’s almost unheard of. Ceremonies are typically held on the lawn with the mountain views in the background and receptions are in the reception barn. This is a good fit for couples who want the best mountain views they can get without actually climbing a mountain themselves.

Peaks of Otter Lodge

If you get married on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Peaks of Otter Lodge, you’ll be within the boundaries of the National Park Service and will enjoy the more affordable rates of a business (a concession arranged by the Park Service) offering hospitality to the public. Your ceremony can take place in front of Abbott Lake with Sharp Top Mountain visible in the background. Receptions for up to 100 can be held in the lodge restaurant. It’s probably one of the most economical options on this list, plus it offers stunning views of both a lake and mountains.

Lexington Wedding Venues

The Seclusion 

It’s hard to call The Seclusion a barn venue, even though that’s technically the aesthetic, because everything about this property is geared towards luxury weddings. Perhaps “great hall” would be a better descriptor. The Seclusion features 360-degree mountain views, manicured grounds, wildflower fields, a massive, elegant reception space with soaring ceilings and an elegant mountain-front ceremony site. Every detail about this property has been thoughtfully designed for maximum luxury and beauty. 

Big Spring Farm

Big Spring Farm is a true barn venue, but they’ve made it a little more elegant than rustic. Ceremonies are usually held in front of their pond by a willow tree. Receptions are most often held in the big barn. The views from this property are more rolling hills than mountains, the openness evoking beauty and peace, making it a great choice for an outdoor wedding. 

House Mountain Inn

House Mountain Inn is located at the top of (yes) House Mountain. There are two separate venues at this property – House Mountain Inn and Irvine Estate. Most weddings are held at Irvine Estate, but the whole property is commonly referred to as House Mountain Inn. This venue boasts incredible mountain views from the terraced ceremony space and a lovely hall boasting wood beams and soaring ceilings. House Mountain Inn offers the benefit of being an all-inclusive venue. Catering is done in-house and there are ample on-site accommodation options for guests.

The Georges 

The Georges is located in downtown Lexington and has a more urban aesthetic than any other venue in Lexington. Their main event space, The Patton Room, has an elegant industrial design. This room can accommodate up to 120 for a plated dinner of 100 for dinner + dance floor. Smaller gatherings can be held in their courtyard or dining room, which have almost European vibes. Medium-sized events might use the garden terrace for dinner. Food is catered by the resident executive chef and the boutique hotel has 21 rooms for rent. Rentals can also be sourced through the venue. 

Blacksburg Wedding Venues

The Clay Corner Inn

The Clay Corner Inn is a cute downtown Blacksburg bed-and-breakfast with nine rooms and a small courtyard garden. It’s a good fit for couples with fewer than 30 guests who want to rent out a whole house and to have delicious food on site.. 

Hahn Horticulture Garden

The Hahn Horticulture Garden is probably the prettiest place in Blacksburg proper to host your wedding. Located right on Virginia Tech’s campus, the sprawling gardens have plenty of photo opportunities. Ceremonies are typically held right on the lawn in front of the trees and flowers. Tented receptions can accommodate up to 150 guests.Intimate weddings with fewer than 50 guests can use the Hahn Garden Pavilion for their reception space. 

Belvieu Farm Winery

Belvieu Farm Winery is probably the best option for a vineyard wedding in the New River Valley. This venue can host everything from elopements to weddings with up to 150 guests and has seasonal lavender, mountain views and a pond. Ceremonies are typically held on the lawn with mountain views in the background and most receptions are held in the great hall of the winery building. 

Mountain Lake Lodge 

Mountain Lake Lodge is famous as the backdrop for the filming of  Dirty Dancing in the 1980s. The lodge still functions as a beautiful southwestern Virginia retreat, but also is the site for weddings with up to 200 guests. There are three ceremony sites at Mountain Lake Lodge with a variety of views: lake, mountain, or within the event barn. There are also three reception options – the barn with whitewashed wood beams, the ballroom with floor-to-ceiling stone walls, and the European-style veranda with mountain views. Several smaller rooms can be rented for intimate or micro wedding celebrations. 

Fincastle Wedding Venue

The Preserve at Crooked Run 

The Preserve at Crooked Run is a really cool space perfect for the outdoor adventure lover. This is one of the more unique venues on the list. The Grand Lodge is an indoor/outdoor space with full-light folding doors that can convert the room from indoor to outdoor pavilion in minutes. Ceremonies have vast mountain views in the background. Onsite accommodations range from luxury cabins to tent camping sites. Guests staying onsite can dive into outdoorsy activities, such as a fly fishing excursion, sport shooting, and mountain biking. 

Goode Wedding Venue

Glass Hill Venue 

This luxury wedding venue is tucked into southwestern Virginia. 

Ceremonies at Glass Hill Venue take place beneath a beautiful pergola with mountain views in the background. With a ballroom under vaulted wood ceilings complemented by white walls, its lodge provides an elegant backdrop for your reception. It’s perfect for the couple looking for classic elegance as their wedding vibe. 

Christiansburg Wedding Venue 

Sinkland Farms

Sinkland Farms is a beautiful farm venue less than ten minutes down the road from my home! Ceremonies take place in front of their Tuscan Pond with mountain views in the background. Receptions are held in the 5,000 sq ft “barn,” featuring exposed beams, skylights and tin walls. If wearing cowboy boots and dancing to country music fits your idea of a fun wedding, do look into Sinkland Farms. 

Rocky Mount Wedding Venues

The Grand at 290

Exclusively for indoor weddings, The Grand at 290 feels like  a mix of industrial, ballroom, and old- school club. The venue has large columns throughout and white pressed-tin tile ceilings, with exposed ductwork and huge chandeliers. Its history is unique – it started out as a department store. A rooftop terrace provides views of Rocky Mount and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Ceremonies typically take place on the second floor while receptions are held in the ballroom on the main floor.  

Early Inn at the Grove 

The Early Inn at the Grove is a historic boutique hotel on 10 acres. Ceremonies typically take place in front of the brick inn on the main walking path. For receptions, guests can opt for a large tent or the outdoor pavilion. This venue can host anything from micro weddings to celebrations with up to 250 guests. In-house catering is provided. 

Forest Wedding Venues

West Manor Estate 

The atrium at West Manor Estate is a stunner. Built on the back of the estate, the floor-to-ceiling glass building showcases the gardens and makes for an incredible reception space or rainy day ceremony location. The gardens at West Manor are also extensive and lined with brick pavers. This is an incredibly beautiful site for couples who are looking for a historical venue characterized by elegance and charm. 

The Vaughn House

The Vaughn House is uniquely oriented toward maximum photographic beauty in a down-home comfortable setting. Which makes sense – this greenhouse venue is in the backyard of a couple who does photography and videography, in addition to building said greenhouse by their own hands and raising two children. The greenhouse can fit up to 16 inside or, for large parties, the owners have a tent for rent. 

Floyd Wedding Venue

The Eighty Four Events

The “84” in the name of this venue refers to the 84 acres of land originally farmed by the current co-owner’s great-grandfather. The 1946 dairy barn has now been fully renovated by the owners and their four young children to host weddings with a rustic flavor though the amenities are modern (as in silos turned into restrooms). Ceremonies at Eight Four Events take place amid the rolling hills of southwestern Virginia. A large patio adorned with bistro lights can be used for cocktail hour or as reception space. Alternatively, couples can host their reception inside the refurbished whitewashed barn that makes up the main reception area. A wedding coordinator is included in your rental package.
