Where Is Bald Knob Located?

Bald Knob is located about 35 minutes from Blacksburg, Virginia, just minutes from the West Virginia border. The small gravel parking lot is easy to miss. It sits just before the entrance to Mountain Lake Lodge, which is famous for being the filming location of the original Dirty Dancing.

Annie and Ben’s Bald Knob Elopement

Annie and Ben’s elopement took place in 2020, during a year when many couples chose intimate, meaningful celebrations. They planned a larger celebration for the following year, but this day was just for the two of them.

They got ready separately in their apartment and then met for a first look in a meadow near their home. They exchanged quiet smiles under a tree before their ceremony.

A tripod was set up so family and friends could watch remotely as they exchanged vows and rings. They kissed, cheered, and were married.

After the ceremony, we headed to Bald Knob for sunset. They popped champagne, sat along the cliffs, and watched the light fade over the New River Valley. It was simple, peaceful, and deeply personal.
