The Doyle Hotel in Charlottesville (formerly the Quirk Hotel) is a boutique, artsy hotel that makes a unique setting for micro weddings and small intimate celebrations. I’ve photographed weddings here twice—once when it was still the Quirk and once after it became the Doyle—and both experiences were wonderful from a photography perspective. While I personally have not encountered any issues, recent Yelp and Google reviews suggest that some guests have had mixed experiences since the hotel changed ownership.
If you love the aesthetic of the Doyle—modern, artistic, and full of personality—it can absolutely be a beautiful space for a wedding. If you’re hesitant, other Charlottesville venues with a similar vibe to consider are the Omni Charlottesville or Commonhouse, but if the Doyle is what you’re set on, I would love to capture your day here.

Robin and Vito’s micro wedding at the Quirk Hotel is a perfect example of how couples can bend traditional rules while still creating an unforgettable day. Their story includes a sunrise first look in Shenandoah National Park, followed by a ceremony at a scenic overlook off Skyline Drive.
After a short break (we offer split coverage for couples booking 8+ hours), the celebration continued back in Charlottesville at the hotel. They enjoyed a long, intimate table adorned with florals and pottery created by Robin herself, a talented florist with Strawberry Fields Flowers in Richmond.
Dancing wasn’t their priority, so the couple focused on speeches, drinks, and hanging out with their guests, all while soaking in the hotel’s beautiful, artsy environment.
If the Doyle Hotel is your dream venue, I’d love to help you capture your intimate Charlottesville wedding with both elegance and authenticity. The images at the end of this guide are from a real wedding and provide inspiration for styling, flow, and photography ideas.
