Sundara Wedding Venue

Sundara is an incredibly beautiful wedding venue located just 20 minutes outside of Roanoke. It’s situated at the base of Cahas Mountain. As a result, it is one of the best central Virginia wedding venues for mountain views. Yet it is close enough to downtown Roanoke to make finding guest accommodations and wedding vendors a breeze.

In addition to mountain views, Sundara features a historic home, boxwood gardens, a stream, a willow tree, two large magnolia trees with plenty of shade for midday family photos, and a white reception tent decorated with string lights. 

Wedding ceremonies either take place in front of the epic mountain vista at the back of the property or in front of a massive oak tree, also in the back. A swing is hung from one of the branches of the oak tree and is often used for photos.

Receptions are tented and are held in the backyard of the historic home. The onsite house is a private residence, but there are two spaces set aside indoors for getting ready. One room on the main level has lots of windows, and another is in the basement and features a pool table. 

Catering for Sundara weddings is done exclusively by Blue Ridge Catering. The catering company actually rents the venue and serves as day of coordinators as well. The venue owners, who live on site, are retired and are not involved day-to-day with weddings. Reviewers on all major wedding platforms gush about Blue Ridge Catering’s day-of coordinator Cari, though. I also found her incredibly sweet and personable at Sarah and Rob’s Wedding.

What is Included in the Sundara Wedding Venue Price

Sundara wedding venue costs between $6950-$8950 depending on time of year and day of the week. You can find their full pricing at the bottom of the page here. They do not take on winter weddings and are effectively closed December-March.

The venue pricing for Sundara includes:

• Exclusive use of the property for up to five hours (from ceremony start time to end of reception)

While there aren’t onsite accommodations for your bridal party, there is a glamping tent on the property that couples can rent for a post-wedding night or two.
